i am a research scholar currently struggling with writing.
i believe that life has so much to offer and that one should keep on exploring. this blog is a window. a window on some of my thoughts. thoughts keep growing and i hope to keep growing.
about the title: Ingellei or Ingallei, is the local name of a flower that is said to bloom in distant hills. It is a name given by the valley dwelling Meitei people for a flower that blooms in the distant hills . because it blooms in the distant hills it is less seen but made famous through folk songs. because it is less sighted and it blooms in its solitude, it has an air of mystique….. an exotica that has been made so familiar in thought, yet so less enjoyed by the immediacy of the senses. However, is it not delusional to imagine that the flower is pitiable in its solitude just because it is not sighted by an admirer?
when i started this blog, ‘ingellei’ was already taken so i had opted for ingallei. Ingellei is a ginger lily (Hedychium coccineum) while Ingallei is an orchid that blooms in the rainy months. both the flowers are part of the Meitei lore.
do leave behind your thoughts for me and other readers on this blog as well as on my photoblog (http://ingelleiphoto.wordpress.com/)
